The vest is worked from the top down in garter slip stitch, back and forth. Increases are made for both armholes and for the deep V-neck cutout. The arm openings are worked in a single rib, and all rib edges are finished with 2 rounds of double stockinette stitch followed by Italian bind-off. Stitches are picked up for button bands, where later 4 buttons are sewn. Here, you can create a playful interplay of colors in the texture, making good use of leftover yarn!
My gauge swatch with Tvinni + Silk Mohair from Isager resulted in a gauge of 24 stitches x 48 rows before washing and 24 stitches x 46 rows after washing. That is, the vest became a few centimeters longer after washing. This may vary depending on the yarn used, and it is always recommended to make a gauge swatch before starting.
Sizes are calculated based on a positive ease of approximately 7 cm, which you add to the childs chest measurement. The pattern follows chest measurements of 53 (56) 59 (64) 72 cm.
Example: If the childs chest measurement is 54 cm, add 7 cm = 61 cm which corresponds to size 4 years. Size 4 years will then provide an ease of 11 cm.
