Secondknit by Marita Harvey

Living in northern Norway, surrounded by mountains, changing seasons, and slow everyday moments, I’ve always found comfort in creating with my hands. Knitting has been a part of my life since childhood, when my grandmother first taught me how to hold the needles and trust the rhythm of the stitches. What started as a simple skill quickly became something much deeper — a creative outlet, a quiet space, and eventually the heart of Secondknit.

I’m a mother of three, a maker at heart, and someone who truly loves the process of turning yarn into garments meant to be worn, loved, and lived in. I’m especially drawn to timeless designs with thoughtful details — pieces that feel both beautiful and comfortable, and that bring a sense of calm and confidence when worn.

For me, knitting is never just about the finished piece. It’s about slowing down, learning something new, and finding joy in the small moments along the way. I love exploring techniques and construction methods, but I also believe knitting should feel approachable and rewarding, whether you’re a beginner or have been knitting for years.

Through Secondknit, I hope to inspire others to create with their hands, enjoy the process, and discover that even the most intricate-looking garment begins with something very simple: one knit stitch and one purl stitch.
